Why This Blog, Why Aimee Taylor?

This blog is combination of several things that I am extremely passionate about in life, FAMILY, FOOD, and HEALTH/FITNESS. My world revolves around my amazing husband and two precious children, and I will do everything in my power to keep us all happy and healthy so we can live and love our fun crazy life.

Food and I go way back... I remember at about the age of maybe 8 years old, sitting on the counter next to the spice cabinet and experiementing with different flavors on my ham and cheese sandwich. I devoured cookbooks and the cooking magazines that my Grandmother shared with me, clipping my way to what I swore would be a family heirloom cookbook one day.

Over the years I have spent more or less time with this passion, until 2003 when I decided to leave a very nice banking career to go to culinary school. I worked days as a nanny and went to school at night, while I planted the first seeds of a catering and event consulting company. After graduation, I bought and remodeled a building as a catering kitchen, office and event facility, and one EVIL general contractor and lots of hours with city of Houston inspectors later, I was living the dream. It was on a shoe string, but the dream no less.

Through lots of big and small events and the hardest four years of my life, I learned more than I could ever imagine. What I learned most was that I love business, I love cooking, I love sharing my passion for health and fitness, but catering is too physically demanding and just doesn't pay very well. So now I get the best of both worlds, as a Healthy Lifestyle Consultant.  I help families live a healthy life inspite of their crazy schedules.  I am happy that I can share my skills and experiences as well as all that I have learned through research and experimentation with my kids.

Health and fitness is something that has been a part of my life forever. I was fortunate enough to grow up in a very demanding sport of baton twirling (don't laugh, this was real twirling, not that parade nonsense), while also participating in every other sport offered in my small hometown in Texas. God blessed me with boundless energy and so over the years I have turned into a runner, biker, swimmer and any other activity that gets my heart pumping (especially chasing my kids around in the backyard). My very smart and practical Mom taught me the greatest tool for a healthful life - MODERATION. You will hear me talk about this over and over because I truly believe it is the key to success in living a fun and healthy life.


So, here I am hoping to share some good information and helpful kid-friendly healthly recipes and tips with you. I hope you will be excited to share some ideas and tips with me too.
